Assignment 15 - Final Exam Optional - Revised Grade Calculations
Due: Tuesday May 13
You have the option of skipping the Final Exam. To determine if you would like to choose this option, you will need to.
1) Calculate your Final Grade on the Basis of all required assignments EXCEPT the Final Exam.
Homeworks - Worth 30%
Case Studies - Worth 20% (total for 2)
Exams - Worth 30% (total for 2)
Calculate the contribution toward a final grade from these three components and divide by 0.80 to get a "calculated final grade excluding the final exam".
2) Based on the next highest grade what would you need to score on the Final Exam to raise your grade from the grade you calculated in 1).
Grade Range
A GE 93
A- 90 - 92+
B+ 87 - 89+
B 83 - 86+
B- 80 - 82+
C+ 77 - 79+
C 73 - 76+
C- 70 - 72+
D+ 67 - 69+
D 60 - 66+
F LT 60
That is, if your current "calculated final grade" was 84, which is in the "B" range, what would you have to score on the Final exam to raise that to a B+ (>87). In this example the equation to solve is:
(0.8)*(Calc Final Grade) + (.2)*(Final Exam Grade) = 87.
Then solve for Final Exam grade.
