BMATWT 540 - Design of Wood Structures

Course NEWS and Information:

  • The final exam is optional. Take it only if you think you will improve your grade.

    Final exam information:

    When: Thursday, May 15 , 8:00-10:00am, Holdsworth 202/203 (Registrar's Website)
    Topics: ALL (i.e. it is cumulative) but focus on everything since the midterm
    Duration: 120 min.
    Please note: Closed book, but bring your calculator. I will supply equations for deflection or column calculations, if needed.

  • The due date for the Term Project has been extended to Thursday, May 15 at 5pm.

  • You may work on the term project in groups. If you do so, 5% of your grade will be decided by your team members and you MUST:
    1. LIST TEAM MEMBERS on the project title page and

    2. FILL OUT and SUBMIT A PEER EVALUATION FORM

WoodWorks Software is installed on the computers in Holdsworth Room 110 and Room 302.

If you are registered in BMATWT 540, you can install WoodWorks Software on your home computer. Just follow these steps:

1) Download the Educational Version of WoodWorks DesignOffice and save the file on your computer.

2) Install the program on your computer.

3) Run the program "Sizer" from your start menu. You will see a window requesting a keycode with an associated software ID.

4) Copy your software ID exactly as shown and email it to me at clouston@nrc.umass.edu. I will email back your keycode so that the program will run.
