City of Sao Paulo wikipediaonline

Sao Paulo is one of th biggest cities in the world. It is also one of the most populated and therefore the pressures on the inmediate natural environment are significant. The uncontrolled population growth, urban sprawl, and natural resources consumption has substantially degraded the environment around the city. Now that the city is entering the 21st century, many organizations, private and public, have movilized in order to create a greener Sao Paulo. This website will go through some innovative programs and projects currently undergoing in the region. These organizations are advocates for a greener future and the challenges they face seems to be greater than the efforts done. Their commitment for a cleaner water, greener environment, sustainable practices and protected land, together with better tools and opportunities for the people, makes this city and the region an example of green urbanism in a regional scale.
