OWL: On-Line Web-based Learning
For
this course, Res Ec 212, to enter OWL, go to SPARK, enter
our course, and then use the Powerlink found on the home
page.
· Pre-Lecture Assignment: Read the assigned material in the text and complete the Instructional
units (IUs) before class. These are required and account for 5% of your course grade. You may do a pre-lec as many times as you like during the days that it is open (from the end of the last lecture to about an hour before the next lecture begins).
· OWL Quizzes: Quizzes are meant to be more like an exam and are based
on completed Pre-Lecture IUs and material from prior lectures. Quiz
scores are based on the percent of the quiz IUs mastered. You have a maximum
of three attempts on each IU in a quiz; but every Quiz is a timed event
and the timer starts immediately upon entering (just looking) a quiz.
You must use all three of your tries within this time period or time
will expire on you. For example, if you take your first try at 11 pm
on Sunday night, then return on Monday morning at 7 am to finish the
quiz, you lose, as it has timed out.
To enter OWL for this course, go
to SPARK, log in, then use the Powerlink.
Remember each quiz can be taken only three times, with no feedback
given to simulate a real quiz experience.
PreLecture assignments may be taken as many times as you would like
before they expire to improve your grade. Once they expire you can no
longer improve your grade on that prelec, but you can continue to take
them for review and practice.
